Recovery Coaching is an adaption of life coaching in the field of addiction recovery. The practice follows a similar suit in terms of traditional psychotherapy and borrows many of the recovery principles practice from psychology and life-coaching and applies them in the context of addiction recovery.

NLP is an approach to personal development and is an extremely powerful approach to communication, personal development, and psychotherapy. It describes the dynamics between mind and language and how they affect your body and behaviours. In other words, it’s a way you can use your perception (neurology) and language to create the results you want.

Through Neuro-Linguistic Programming, your unconscious mind might become more encouraged to open about the problems you’re facing or past experiences you’ve kept buried.

Today, NLP therapy is one of the tools, life coaches use to help you change the connection between your neurological processes, language and behavioural patterns, which you learned through experiences, to achieve specific goals in life.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is an advanced psychotherapy approach, frequently used in the treatment of dual diagnosis. Although DBT achieved prominence for the treatment of personality disorders, it has been successfully adapted for treating those struggling with emotional regulation, interpersonal conflict and self-destructive behaviours. It is a comprehensive and practical approach, particularly effective in the treatment of complex mental health disorders and behavioural issues – such as traumasubstance use disorder and major depression. DBT focuses on teaching four key coping skills: core mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) continues to be one of the most valued and empirically supported therapeutic options for the treatment of addictionanxiety, phobias, depression and sleep disorders. With CBT, the emphasis is on the present, setting goals and understanding the connection between our thoughts, emotions and behaviours. Dysfunctional thinking patterns become the intervention point, from which we can develop alternative ways of thinking to increase positive feelings and healthy, helpful behaviours. There are different types of CBT, and one of our therapists will work collaboratively with you to customise the techniques, in order to meet your specific needs.

Insomnia is a common sleep disorder that can make it hard to fall asleep, hard to stay asleep, or cause you to wake up too early and not be able to get back to sleep. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia, sometimes called CBT-I, is an effective treatment for chronic sleep problems and is usually recommended as the fu=irst line of treatment.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is a structured program that helps you identify and replace thoughts and behaviours that cause or worsen sleep problems with habits that promote sound sleep. Unlike sleeping pills, CBT-I helps you overcome the underlying causes of your sleep problems.

Mindfulness, as a general practice, is a way of becoming more fully aware of ourselves and our environment. Through mindfulness techniques we can learn to pay more attention to the present moment, where we can observe our thoughts, feelings and physical sensations – in a non-judgmental way. Mindfulness forms an integral part of Dialectical Therapy, and complements Cognitive Therapy, by creating a deeper degree of awareness. The moment of awareness is, or can become, the catalyst for change. A therapy specialist will support you in developing the necessary skills and level of self-discipline required to simply focus on the current moment. Mindfulness groups are regularly held in our gardens, to help practise and promote mindfulness techniques.

Person-Centred Therapy – also known as Rogerian Therapy – was developed in the 1940s, by Carl Rogers. It is based on the belief the everyone has the capacity and desire for personal growth and change, to fulfill their own potential. As such, the therapist’s role is not as an expert, telling you what is wrong with you and what you need to do. They are there to empower and motivate you throughout the therapeutic process and you are an equal partner in that process. Person-centred therapy is an effective approach for individuals experiencing a range of common mental health problems, including depression and anxiety. It is a non-directive, empathic approach, where the focus is on a person’s experience of themselves. The therapist is there to offer unconditional acceptance and support, to work with you to help harness your natural self-healing and ultimately reach a more congruent view of yourself.

Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) is a form of psychotherapy that address the behaviours of all family members and the way these behaviours affect not only individual family members, but also relationships between family members and the family unit as a whole. As such, treatment is usually divided between time spent on individual therapy and time spent on couple therapy, family therapy, or both, if necessary. MFT may also be referred to as coupe and family therapy, couple counselling, marriage counselling, or family counselling.

Trauma-Specific Therapy (TST) is a unique therapy approach, rooted in understanding the connection between a traumatic experience and our emotional and behavioural responses to it. A therapist will guide you through exploring how trauma is having lasting, adverse affects on your mental, physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. They will utilise a variety of approaches, in combination with CBT and DBT, to address your trauma condition, trauma-related symptoms and any associated underlying issues, such as substance abuse.

Sometimes things just feel off and you can’t quite put your figure on it. It is causing your life to be less enjoyable and you really just need to chat it out with someone who will listen with an open ear and help you get to the root of the problem.
